Gang - it's not something out of the question, at least IMHO... What would really be needed is some consensus on what needs to be recorded, frequency, etc. And I guess how much post-processing is acceptable...
For example - ntop runs it's session purge on a timed expire basis. Would logging that data - for the data that's being purged, check hostTraffic in ntop.h (around line 1665) - before purging it, be what you want/need? If not - there is already a -2 (--no-idle-host-purge) parameter - this prevents creation of (and thus execution of) the Idle Hosts thread (scanIdleLoop() in ntop.c). Although ntop's tables then grow huge, this preserves data for longer. Let's see some discussion of what you need recorded and then we'll talk... -----Burton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Thomas Springer Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2002 5:37 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Ntop] total traffic over a period (was: Ntop Question) At 11:15 25.04.2002 +0200, you wrote: > and -also- "desperately looking" on reliable tools catching this kind of statistics me too - maybe this is a) a topic for the list b) a feature-request?
