Same problem here. I can get data to populate if I run the following along
with running the perl client script:

#!/bin/bash
export PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/ntop
KILLPROC() {
        PID=(`/bin/ps -eo pid,cmd | /bin/grep -i ntop`)
        for pid in $( /bin/ps -eo pid,cmd | /bin/grep -i ntop | awk '{ print
$1 }' ); do
                echo "killing pid: $pid"
                kill $pid
        done
}
STARTNTOP() {
        /usr/sbin/tcpdump -w /home/ntop/tcpdump.log &
        cd /usr/local/etc
        /usr/local/bin/ntop \
        --local-subnets 10.1.1.0/24 \
        -b localhost:4000 \
        --mysql-host ntop:dbpasswd:NTOP:localhost \
        -a /var/log/ntop-access.log \
        --no-interface-merge \
        --interface eth0,eth1 \
        --user ntop \
        -P /home/ntop \
        -f /home/ntop/tcpdump.log \
        --trace-level 5 \
        --enable-external-tools \
        --store-mode 2 \
        --http-server 3000 \
        --https-server 3001 \
        -d
}

case "$1" in
'start')
        STARTNTOP
        ;;
'stop')
        KILLPROC
        ;;
'restart')
        KILLPROC
        STARTNTOP
        ;;
*)
        echo "Usage: $0 { start | stop | restart }"
        ;;
esac
exit 0

Subject: [Ntop] NTOP and MySQL

Hi there!
I configured for the first NTOP to work with MySQL; all the necessary
processes are running, but it seems that nothing is written in the database.
How can I verify what's happening?

Thanks

Fiorenza
