... and not so smart people should read too, I just
wanted some feedback on this one. Im not %100 sure
about my answer here so Im hoping someone else will
read and correct if Im mistaken.

YOu would have to restart NTOP every 24 hours for
those stats to be accurate. NTOP will just merge the
statistics collected from the previous day, which will
keep growing .... and growing ... If it does average
the merged stats, I guess it can be useful (for some)
until someone downloads a 800MB CD and f's up that
hour(s). If someone knows, or can distinguish from the
code how or if the averaging is taking place that
would be great.

NTOP at this point is meant to be used interactively,
daily, depending on what kind of statistics you need.
Hopefully some day you will be able to crank up NTOP
and let it go.

If Im not mistaken, if you send NetFlow data from your
network device (Cisco router or switch), you can get
accurate 60 minutes and 24 hours from the NetFlow
Device statistics. If you do send NetFLow, goto the
stats tab, then network load, and click on one of the
graphs. However, it only shows like the top 3 hosts
(It would be cool if we could change that to like
maybe the 5 tops hosts, or even more). SO I think
here, NTOP only reports on current rather than
accumulated data? If someone knows if this is correct
or not, please let me know.

It would be nice if NTOP would/could perge statistics
every 24 hours and retain the hourly statistics per
host (or whatever statistics NTOP can retain
effectively). However I think this under development
and will be available in future releases of NTOP.

NOte: apologies Firsto Lasto if you were not ready to
read this reply yet ... next time I will check with
you first'o :)

Last'o, bye!
