Hello:
I just set-up ntop 2.1.3 on my RedHat 8.0 machine.
It has a dizzing array of information, but I am a
little confused about how to use the information.
Is it possible to get stats on the total bytes sent
into and out of the machine via email broken down by
each user?
When a user sends an email thru the server,
they connect to the smtps port (port 465) and transfer
the email to the server. The server then forwards the
email to the receiver's mail server (sent from port 25).
When a user recieves email, the sender's mail server
connects to port 25 and sends the email to the server.
When the user checks the email, they connect to the
pop3s port (port 995) and download the email.
What I want is to count the total bytes sent and
received for each of the user's email accounts to
monitor their usage.
Is this possible with ntop?
There are many other protocols which I want to track
usage for as well, including, ssh, sftp, telnet, ftp,
http, etc. Are there facilities to monitor each of
these?
Thanks,
Neil.
