It's not wasting, it's using them to store rrd databases.

ntop tracks every host it sees - both local and remote.  So if you're
hosting P2P servers, running nmap probes, etc. you can create a lot of
hosts...
Either turn off the plugin if you don't want it, or use the configuration
parameters on the plugin to:

  * reduce the amount of data stored for future rrds
  * set white/black lists to control which hosts are stored in rrds

Hallo,

i am using ntop since last weekend to monitor my webserver. today i looked
at my systems stats and i lost 30 gigs on hard disk space.

i use ntop with rrd plugin and my /var/lib/ntop/rrd/interfaces/eth0
directory is wasting all my space.

what i am doing wrong?

i am very new to ntop and it is difficult for me becasue only english
documentation is there. is there some german doku?
