Hello everyone;
I am running on a PIII 500 mhz machine with slackware
10, the installation went smooth, had to download &
install gd. But afterwards it seems it was a easy
breeze,
./configure
make
checkinstall

after that i started ntop at the command prompt
however,

Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 1. Is another instance of
ntop running?
Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 2. Make sure that the use
you specified can write in the target directory

Next i navigated to /usr/local/var and discovered that
there was not ntop folder. So i did a mkdir ntop and
touch prefsCache.db

Started NTOP again
however same error.

Next i did a ps -aux and there was no ntop running in
the processes. Also i did a ls -al ntop and it came
up as root root.

Can some one help me out on this problem? I really
like to start using ntop and the console version intop
i believe that is called.

Than you very much everyone
james
