Hello everyone; I am running on a PIII 500 mhz machine with slackware 10, the installation went smooth, had to download & install gd. But afterwards it seems it was a easy breeze, ./configure make checkinstall
after that i started ntop at the command prompt however, [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/james# ntop Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 ntop will be started as user nobody Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 ntop v.3.0 SourceForge .tgz MT (SSL) Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 Configured on Sep 24 2004 12:44:55, built on Sep 24 2004 12:48:38. Is another instance of ntop running? Fri Sep 24 14:43:25 2004 2. Make sure that the use you specified can write in the target directory Next i navigated to /usr/local/var and discovered that there was not ntop folder. So i did a mkdir ntop and touch prefsCache.db Started NTOP again however same error. Next i did a ps -aux and there was no ntop running in the processes. Also i did a ls -al ntop and it came up as root root. Can some one help me out on this problem? I really like to start using ntop and the console version intop i believe that is called.
