Personally, I like Gentoo.

Key to ntop is a small, stable distribution with nothing extra.  The less
cruft, the less you have to upgrade.

Why Gentoo specifically? gd.  MOST prebuilt gd libraries use freetype and
thus import a lot of X11 headers (if you're not careful you'll get the whole
X11 package).  Gentoo makes it easy to install gd w/o X11 (it's just a use
statement).
