Sure ... there aren't any source changes in the ports tree version from 3.1
.tgz on SourceForge... So the results won't be different than you've already
seen (you do know Albert's definition of insane, right?

In the ports, they:

  * Change the ./configure glib test from g_date_julian() to
g_date_new_julian() (I'm not sure why, they're both gdome functions)
  * Patch util.c - which I believe we now already have in the baseline, and
in such a way that it doesn't leak memory.
  * Added a init section to the script, good to have
  * Set --skip-version-check

The last change is unfortunate - it means that we'll undercount FreeBSD
users and thus may underallocate resources...

    Thanks for the heads up.  I thought they would have applied the patch.
Being a glutton for punishment, I may give it a try and apply the patch.
