No clue what you mean by 'holes'. However, there are some tricks w/ rrd as it rolls data up into coarser rings WRT missing observations. I've posted on that, and there's stuff in the SourceForge article and docs/FAQ. Finally, man rrdcreate, esp the xff stuff - and there's more on that on the RRD mailing lists.
