After successfully installing ntop 3.2 on a Fedora Core 4 machine, I'm having the hardest time while trying to get it build on Solaris 8. Using gnu tools to build it and getting the following error message...

gcc -g -O2 -I/usr/local/include -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wnested-externs -fPIC -DPIC -g -O2 -I/usr/local/include -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wnested-externs -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/ntop ntop-main.o ntop-admin.o -L/usr/local/lib ./.libs/libntopreport.so -L/opt/exp/gnu/lib -L/opt/exp/lib/zlib/shared -L/opt/exp/lib -L/opt/exp/lib/zlib/lib -L/usr/openwin/lib ./.libs/libntop.so myrrd/.libs/libmyrrd.so /opt/exp/gnu/lib/libgdome.so /opt/exp/gnu/lib/libglib.so -lposix4 -lpthread -lresolv -lxnet -lc /opt/exp/gnu/lib/libiconv.so -lpcap /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.so /usr/local/lib/libgd.so -lXpm -lX11 /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.so /usr/local/lib/libfontconfig.so /opt/exp/gnu/lib/libxml2.so -lsnprintf -ldl -lsocket -lnsl /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so -lpng12 -lm -lpng -lz -Wl,--rpath -Wl,/usr/local/lib -Wl,--rpath -Wl,/opt/exp/gnu/lib /opt/exp/gnu/bin/ld: ./.libs/libntopreport.so: gethostbyname: invalid version 5 (max 0)
./.libs/libntopreport.so: could not read symbols: Bad value

I've tried using --disable-ipv6 but that did not help. I have used another Solaris 8 machine as a test and it dies at the same spot.

I really like the program and I would love to have it running under Solaris. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Lou
