I think it's in the FAQ - - but maybe not.

Some of the stats are kept for a 24 hour sliding window. Like when you
drill into a host you can see stats by hour for last 24 hours. Other
stats are kept cumulative since the time nTop started.

Rrd is the archiving method. It's OK but is more cumbersome than I
would prefer. There are other methods to dump flows and such so you
could also build your own archive as well. Read everything you can
about rrd. If you enabled detailed logging for every host, domain, etc.
ntop sees - you'll need a fair amount of disk.

Subject: [Ntop] Archiving ntop data

I have installed ntop and I am pleased with the results. At this time I
restart ntop in the morning to start collecting new stats for the day.
Is this the best means of doing this or is there some type of script to

"cycle" the databases?

Also is there a means to archive the data on say, a weekly basis for
historic reporting.

Sorry if this is in the FAQ but I did not see it

Thanks
Fritz
