Hi All,

I've bought the latest version of ntop for win32 and installed it on a
Windows Server 2003 VM that I have running in my test lab (aka Skynet)
as a router and dhcp server.

First I'll explain the basic networking setup and then what I want to
achieve.

Setup

Production network: 10.1.0.0/16

Wan Emulator: 10.1.12.1/32

Test Lab (aka Skynet): 10.100.1.0/24

The Firewall in the Production network has a static route set to this:
Route to: 10.100.1.0/24 Gateway: 10.1.12.1

In between the Production Network and Skynet I have a WAN Emulator with
IP 10.1.12.1. Routing is as follows: Destination: 10.100.0.0 | GW:
10.1.12.10  ||  Destination: Default  | GW: 10.1.1.1

The Windows Server 2003 VM in Skynet has two NICs (10.100.1.1 and
10.1.12.10). DHCP broadcasts on 10.100.1.1 and there is a static route
as follows: Destination: 10.1.0.0 | Netmask: 255.255.0.0 | GW:
10.1.12.1.

I've drawn a quick diagram to illustrate what I have talked about above.
It's at http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/7112/netdiagram.jpg

I have ntop capturing data on 10.100.1.1 on the Windows Server 2003 VM.
However, I'm only getting data from one direction, ie only sent data.

I'm interested mainly in capturing ICA data (port:1494) and I've managed
to do that. The other thing I want to know is what other protocols are
flowing through the link. What is the best way of finding this out? Can
you set ntop to display what ports are being used? May be something
similar to how wireshark works?

We are using thin-clients for our users to connect to their virtual
desktops (XenDesktop - Citrix) and I basically want to replicate a
real-world setup in the test lab so that the thin-clients are connected
in Skynet and traffic goes through the WAN emulator and then to the
servers in the production network. I have achieved the WAN emulation but
I would love to use ntop to see what traffic and how much of it is
flowing through the "pipe". My end goal is to be able to see at what
speeds and load an ICA session becomes unusable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all,

Max
