Dear Parent/Guardian,

What your child is learning, how your local school operates, and how much of
your tax dollars are spent on education are directly affected by the policies
and decisions of the Ontario Provincial Government. With a Provincial election
just around the corner, your vote matters.

The Ontario Public School Boards' Association has declared May 27 as Education
Day. In support, Trustees from the Toronto District School Board are organizing
a candidates' meeting in our ridings.

These non-partisan events are a great opportunity for citizens to hear directly
from their local candidates of the major provincial parties. Please join us to:

  * learn more about key issues that affect public education in Ontario
  * find out where your local candidates stand on questions that matter to
parents in your community

Your local meeting for the St. Paul's riding will take place at:

Tuesday, May 27th - 7pm at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute in the Auditorium.
Childcare will be provided.

What is the primary purpose of these Provincial Candidate meetings?
To ensure that every MPP in the upcoming session at Queens Park understands:

§ the issues affecting public education (K-12) in Ontario and, specifically,
the Toronto District School Board

§ that the future of public education is extremely important to many voters in
their local riding

§ that public education is the second largest line item in the provincial
budget

§ that education issues had a profound effect on the outcome of the last two
provincial elections, and their ongoing electoral success may depend in large
part on their performance on education issues.
Why organize meetings by riding?

§ To ensure that each candidate, in every riding, learns about public
education issues and personally makes their position clear on these issues in
the presence of their voters.

§ To give local voters information regarding views and education platforms of
candidates who will be on their ballots and who (if elected) will be
responsible for representing them at Queen's Park.
