found drivers for the p410i on the HP site, copied it to a usb drive- and when i try to "manually add driver" it doesnt find them on my usb drive- not sure what to try next- not even sure which of the drivers I actually need

Provided the disk has included the linux drivers for said hardware already on it, it will work. If not then no, the disk will not recognize the RAID volume, and then you’ll have to decide if you want to attempt to locate and add the drivers.
