Greetings!

We got snake-bitten trying to upgrade the antivirus software on a Win2003R2
server. An attempt to push out an upgrade from the AV server failed, so an
installer was created and copied to the server. (It is an MSI, not an EXE.)

Although the "msiexec" process has been stopped (numerous times!) in
TaskManager, something persists.

We have other software to update (some HP diagnostics utilities). However, if
one of the HP installers (EXE's) is "touched", that is, either right- or
left-clicked, the AV installer process kicks off again. (I know it is for the
same product because all the Events entries make reference to GFI components.)

Oh yes - the system has been power-cycled numerous times since this began.

Any hints on where to look to whack this specific installer situation? It may
also affect necessary upgrades (MS patches, server application updates, etc).
Google didn't help much. "Format c:" is not an option...

Thanks!
