there's a registry entry to run a batch file at logoff or shutdown. you can
clear history at that point.

Hi Dan

Yes, they are also part of it.
I forgot to say that customer is still using NT4.

Thanks and regards,
Patrick

user files on the desktop can take quite a bit of space. create a shortcut
to a local folder (c:\data or c:\my documents or \\userserver\usershare)
and have the user put all documents, temporary desktop stuff there.

Are history and favorites part of the roaming profile also??

Subject: How to shrink ntuser.dat

Hi everybody

Is there a way/tool to shrink ntuser.dat without deleting it?
The question came from one of our customers. He works with roaming profiles
and with the time the ntuser.dat file gets very big, and the workstations
become very slow.

Many thanks in advance.
Patrick
