I extracted the files from q295106.exe with this command:

q295106.exe /t:c:\winnt\temp /c

then I opened the q295106.inf file and found the line:

instcat ie501sp.cat q295106.inf

Note:  "VerInst q295106" was right above that line.  Not really sure what is does but you may want to call it also in a bacth file just tp play it safe...

          [Sedgen.Rpsc]
          VerInst q295106
          [InstCat]
          instcat ie501sp.cat q295106.inf

I then ran that in a batch file....

The only prob I had was that it prompted me to overwrite file becasue I have IE6, but this should work for you....

Here is another way to run the patch:

C:\windows\rundll.exe setupx.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\temp\q295106.inf
(I think this only works under Win9X, make sure you test...)

Subject: IE Update MS01-027, command line switches ?

Does anyone know if there is an undocumented command line switch for q295106.exe (Security Update MS01-027). I am scripting this and there is a /Q switch for quiet mode, but it still prompts the user to reboot the machine. I would like a switch that forces the machine to reboot as with the HotFixes -m -f switches.

Any suggestions?
