Nope... it's not the Vipre server that's the problem, it's the console. Guess I'll just have to live with manually shutting down the console if I want to reboot the server. It's not that big a deal now that I've decided not to automatically reboot the server weekly.

This approach will likely be complicated by the state of the server (e.g. workstation locked). Process killing is rarely fraught with peril...
