It's an easy field upgrade if you decide you change your mind. For some platforms and options, I think it's just a key code or hardware key. The rest are just a daughter card that plugs into the mainboard. I've seen at least three different DRAC flavors. I forget the precise distinctions, but I think it was something like remote power switch, remote console, remote CD/floppy, in increasing order of price. I'm sure your Dell Sales Rep(TM) will be able to tell you all about it. Also, be aware that many servers based on Intel motherboards (including Dell's) made within the past several years include some basic management functions built-in. It's part of the Intel BMC (baseboard management controller). Remote serial console, remote reboot, maybe more. Dell doesn't advertise it because they want to sell you a DRAC, of course. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
