Exmerge problems tend to be covered by: Incorrect permissions (covered by creating a new service account: deprecated) Information Store being Dismounted User account associated with the mailbox being disabled Not enough disk space in the location where you are storing the PST files Mailbox over 2GB in size Corrupt items in mailbox (if this happens then the only option you have is to export using Outlook as exmerge will not export corrupt items)

Definitely a different beast than Exchange 2003, I think. Perhaps I'm just being hasty, though. I'm trying to set up ExMerge to archive out a terminated employee's mailbox, but it's not working. I've followed the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823143 and put my admin account (not the build-in Administrator account) in a group called ExchangeAdministrators, and included that group in the local Administrators group as well. Then I rebooted the server to hurry along the propagation of permissions (it's after hours!), but regardless of what I do, I get error 0x8004011d when trying to export the mailbox to a PST. I've looked at the security properties on the database, and I see inherited Deny ACEs for Send As and Receive As for that group, though. Anyone have a hint for me regarding this? Do I have to undo the Deny ACEs at the top of Exchange org?
