  Batteries contain metals that have value, so they're a profitable
item.  You can usually get money for them if you find a metals
reclamation company.

  The tough ones are usually CRTs.  They contain unprofitable but
toxic leaded glass, are bulky and heavy, and *nobody* wants them
anymore.
