I am taking it that when you did the cifs setup, you joined the first domain?

If you are cifs only then you might be able to get by with using the
altSecurityIdentities attribute. It's been awhile but I think there are
problems if you use NFS qtrees.

Question: Are the forests in the same timezone? Could be a case of smb signing.

The message is "the account is not authorized to log in from this station"
whenever trying to map a drive to it from DOMAIN2. It works from DOMAIN1 (which
is in a different forest than DOMAIN2

What exactly are you trying to do?

The filers will appear in AD as server.

Mapping a windows server to NetApp? Do you have a cifs license for the filer?

I am being asked to enable the setting "Send unencrypted password to
third-party SMB servers" so we can map Windows Servers to NetApp CIFS shares.
This thread shows it worked for him:
https://communities.netapp.com/thread/24037

Anyone here have any experience with NetApp, CIFS and Windows servers?
