Thanks. I think my confusion lies in the Exchange option being available
regardless of the type of backup job being created. In any case, I have my
solution and will be implementing it.

Differential <> incremental <> full (normal)

Full and incremental flush.

Differential does not.

So I would think. But when creating a differential job the options to do a
full Exchange backup still exist, however it doesn't appear to function that
way.

Looks like I'll have to pull Exchange out into its own job each night.

Thats what I thought (Isnt that the way ntbackup works as well?) But according
to Symantecs docs it appears as if it can flush on an incrmental if you ask it
to.

It will only flush the logs if you do a full backup of exchange.

Backup Exec 12

I'm trying to do full backups of the Exchange stores each night, and have
Exchange configured as one of several resources in my weekly Full job and
nightly Differential job. In both jobs, I've set the Exchange parameters for a
full backup and flushing the committed logs, however, I'm only seeing the logs
get flushed as part of the weekly Full backup job. When the nightly Diff job
runs, Exchange logs don't get flushed even though the Exchange parameters are
set for that.

Do I need to backup the Exchange stores as a separate Full job each night in
order to flush the logs?
