I'm no Mac guy, but... I'm pretty sure you'd have to install net-snmp first to even get SNMP functionality on OSX.
So somewhere you should be able to disable the net-snmp service, or something similar. I dunno. And what the hell is up with quoted text disappearing when I reply to a message? I'd seen it happen with other peoples replies on the list before, but now it's happening to me as well, only with some messages.
