I would look to see how many different mstsc.exe's can be found on the C: drive of this computer.
Bet there's more than one... and you're using a different one depending on who you are at the time. If I log on with my domain account, DEP stops the application, and after I close that, I get mstsc.exe caused an error and needs to close. I set my "local administrators" group to include "authenticated users" - thus making my domain account a local admin on the machine when I log in.
