I would not think that they would actually work with another manufacturer. In fact, we have a couple of raritan KVMs and I had to order a different sku model dongles just to connect to SUN boxes rather than any of our other servers, so that makes me think there must be some specific processing going on rather than simply passing info along to the head unit.

i cannot ascertain if there's something baked into those puppies that is 
somehow proprietary.
