It can be. It is also an installable app included with the eCAL option of OCS. 
I have it running here in trial form and it works great. It really doesn't take 
a ton of resources (of course this varies greatly based on usage) and it is 
easily accessed via Office Communicator, SharePoint, Office apps, etc. We love 
it so far.
