Well, a lot of people are having troubles enabling SNMP on the box, which must be done via the RCLI, just check the VMware forums. After a long support case with VMware/Dell, we found a bug in their OEM licensing system.
So, let me know if you are going to try it - I will be happy to shed some light on the matter. Now I have SNMP enabled... I am kinda in the dark. I monitor 'everything' with Cacti - even the outside temperature readings from the closest high school :) But I can't seem to figure out how monitor the 2950! Most things I need to monitor have been outlined in the Cacti forums, with downloadable templates and code. I might have to actually figure out how to manually do it, adding my own MIBs and creating my own graphs... Yuk. I did find this, for the price, it looks like a steal. http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-monitoring.html Under $300 per a 2 socket host. Do you have any suggestions? ________________________________ From: Sam Cayze [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 11, 2008 9:09 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Locked out of VMWARE esx lockdown mode Phil, by chance are you going to be doing any SNMP monitoring of your 2950 host? Yep, there it is... Blue and Green, label Disc 2, ESXi Recovery tools. From: Phil Guevara [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 2:24 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Locked out of VMWARE esx lockdown mode I think i screwed myself big time. I enabled ESX lockdown mode which locks out the access for root and you can only access from virtual center or additional user names. Well.. i set the lockdown mode before doing any of those so now I am locked out. Anyone know how to reset of reformat vmware esxi? It is on a dell2950 with embedded hypervisor. ~ Upgrade to Next Generation Antispam/Antivirus with Ninja! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbelt-software.com/SunbeltMessagingNinja.cfm> ~
