Of course, it depends on your particular circumstances and the error
which you haven't mentioned. It sounds like it is probably raw video
but if the file contains mpeg streams, compressing it won't really help
reduce the file size.
One of my clients is a post house and they regularly move multiple 100GB
files around their Gb network with rsync. They are a Linux-rendering
shop but there is a Cygwin version here:
