Verify you have the latest firmware. I seem to remember seeing this on the 5100 series which is its big brother and we don't seem to have that issue anymore.

We run a number of Dell 3115CN workgroup printers, and I have to say I love them. However we have an issue whereby some documents that are sent to us via email want to print using the MPF paper tray (the manual feed one). The user then has to find some paper, put it in etc and it's a chore when it happens numerous times each day. In the web interface for the printers I've set all the paper feeding defaults to override the paper tray selection of the app and use Tray 1 (the default paper tray) and to use the next nearest sized paper and resize the document being printed (ie whatever size the printout, make it fit A4 and print it using A4). I've also done the same on the printer entry on the server (it's shared on the network) and also done it, just for luck, on the printer entries on the workstations and TS boxes. However, some documents still make the printer prompt for paper in the MPF tray. When this happens, looking at the Paper tab of the Page Setup dialog in Word shows that the default paper tray for this document is the MPF !! For 'normal' docs this defaults to Auto. Has anyone seen this with their 3115CNs ? The total lack of ability to get it to override the requested paper type and use the default. We do a similar thing with our HP workgroup printers and that works a treat.
