Correction The Washington Post has been gathering data on McColo for the past four months and passed the information to its internet service providers, Global Crossing and Hurricane Electric.
Both decided to pull the plug on the firm on Tuesday :) -----Original Message----- From: Ben Scott [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2008 1:33 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: Spam Levels Declining? Correction: A major server hosting provider, McColo, was shut down due to legal action. This provider had a history of ignoring abuse complaints. So if their customer's servers were compromised, they didn't do anything. If a customer was a spammer, the didn't do anything. The actual spammers are not directly affected by the legal action. They will continue to look for neglectful hosts, and continue to try to compromise computers to use as zombie spam cannons. So this treats a symptom, but not the disease. Better than nothing, but far from ideal. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
