You need 1700+ CALS or a processor license (probably cheaper in your
situation). It’s the same as if your web site is powered by MSSQL – you
need a processor license since everyone accessing the server, whether
directly or indirectly (in your case) needs to be licensed.

Subject: OT: What makes a sql connection

We have this application that the entire house uses that has switched to a
MSSQL backend. No one is directly connecting to the SQL box but their app
talks to one server that is making the connections for it. Our lovely
Softchoice person is saying that we need sql cals  for everyone (1700+) that
use this app. I’m thinking the only connection being made is from the server
the app is talking to and the sql server. Thus 1 connection? Right? Wrong?
