My word, I don't remember specifically. I took the entire MCITP suite of Windows 2008 and Exchange 2007 tests at last year's teched, in two days, on a dare from Web. (I passed them all, too.)
But if one of them had been mainly about certificates and federation, I wouldn't have passed it. I did my first CA deployment AFTER teched (two or three more since then) and I've never done federation at all... I do remember lots of picky little details about what you can and can't do at various domain and forest functional levels. That certainly would be appropriate for 70-640 based on the test's objective domain. Regards, Michael B.
