Try from your machine using the manage option My Computer, and manage accounts. 
 Also, try the C$ share remotely and see if you can rename the old users' 
folders.

Same results when I RDP to the box using the local admin credentials.  The 
profile delete button is grayed out, and neither of the profile folders can be 
deleted.  I'm going to try to reboot at lunch time, and see what happens.
