I was given a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate as a gift. Now, to upgrade it'll cost me $220, or go for a cheaper "Windows 7 Home Premium Full" edition, which will still cost me $200.
Ouch. For that much money, I'll stick with Vista. Maybe I'll even buy a Mac Mini, and give my machine to my wife, she could use the upgrade... Maybe not; I can handle the idiosyncrasies of Vista, but I doubt my wife will. Looking forward to OEM pricing, hoping it is an easier pill to swallow. Microsoft, please take note: My opinion is that it's still too expensive! --Matt Ross Ephrata School District ----- Original Message ----- From: Carl Houseman [mailto:c.house...@gmail.com] To: NT System Admin Issues [mailto:ntsysad...@lyris.sunbelt-software.com] Sent: Fri, 26 Jun 2009 09:58:15 -0700 Subject: RE: Windows 7 Pricing and Pre-order > Is it legal to use an upgrade version to go from anything-Home to 7-Pro? > > Not allowing Home->Pro upgrades added insult to injury with Vista. > > > > Carl > > > > From: Eric Woodford [mailto:ericwoodf...@gmail.com] > Sent: Friday, June 26, 2009 12:29 PM > To: NT System Admin Issues > Subject: Re: Windows 7 Pricing and Pre-order > > > > pre-order on amazon now! > > > > http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_1_8?url=search-alias%3Daps > <http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_1_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywo > rds=windows+7&sprefix=windows+&sprefix=windows> > &field-keywords=windows+7&sprefix=windows+&sprefix=windows+ > > > > $49 - home > > $99 - pro > > $219 - ultimate > > On Fri, Jun 26, 2009 at 9:05 AM, Sherry Abercrombie <saber...@gmail.com> > wrote: > > http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/ptech/06/25/cnet.windows7.pricing.upgrade/index > .html <http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/ptech/> > > -- > Sherry Abercrombie > > "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." > Arthur C.
