Whatever happened to your concern over "combining the two 20 Gb volumes into a single volume (the dreaded software RAID)"?
What you have now isn't RAID, it's worse than that. Either drive failure takes down the entire volume with none of the performance benefits that RAID would give. Although it seemed to take quite a bit of time to convert the empty drive to dynamic, the WSUS drive converted in about 2 seconds. WSUS broke, though, probably because the volume was dismounted for the conversion. A re-boot later, and it appears I now have a WSUS server with a 38 Gb volume (19 free), exactly what I was wanting way back when I first set the thing up. THANKS!!! -- Richard D.
