Awesome!

I've had to play with these files a bit when trying to preserve Quota settings
for file server migrations to new hardware. Haven't had to do one in a while,
but IIRC, I've been able to copy or export the xml files sometimes, which
preserves the templates, but I've not found a way yet to grab the database
files, preserving the actual quotas. The files are always in use and won't
copy, and stopping the service doesn't help. I can't always get the xml files
to load either, but I always try during this type of scenario. Not sure why it
matters, but it seems like if I'm changing drive letters it has more issues.

I'm hoping MS will get a tool of some sort out to export/import the actual
quotas at some point. Keeping documentation on exceptions is somewhat tedious
right now.

Bonnie
You're a genius. I did it and it worked. Mine said database version 2.0,
so I changed it to 1.
Thanks very much. I appreciate it.

Hmm... I haven't had much luck with editing and transferring FSRM files so far,
so try this at your own risk. If I was stuck in this situation, I might try:

1) Add administrators full control to the system volume information folder
on the drive where the quotas are applied.

2) Copy out the DataScreenDatabase.xml file for a backup copy

3) Edit the original file in notepad. Look at the version string value
it's barking about and see if you can change it. On my WS03 R2 Standard server
the xml version is 1.0 and the Databaseversion is also 1.0-not sure what
storage server should be listing.

4) If that fails, try removing the file and see if FSRM will recreate one
for you using the default templates or just as a blank version.

5) If that fails, copy in the file from another drive or server where
screens are working.

Good luck,

Subject: FSRM corruption

I have just upgraded our nas to windows storage server 2003 r2. And now I am
getting a srmsvc error and a fsrm error.
So now I cannot add additional screens or get rid of the first screen that is
causing the problem.
Microsoft will not help because it is an oem, and HP won't help because it is
out of warranty.
Google sez to restore from backup, but the server was just rebuilt.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
