Unicomp purchased rights to the "buckling spring" technology IBM
used in their famous keyboards. They do indeed make a modern version
that's USB. I'm typing on one right now. The key feel is pretty much
exactly the same; I love it. It's quite sturdy, especially by modern
standards. It's not *quite* as sturdy, or as heavy, as the real IBM
keyboards (I have two at home), but it's close. It has withstood
repeated frustrated poundings. I'm not sure it could be used as a
murder weapon, but it would still hurt if hit over the head with it.
My only complaint is the cable is attached, rather than removable like
the classic IBM keyboard was. But even IBM dropped that in later
variants.
