I know this doesn't answer your question, but I would still make the
effort to run the wiring.  Even if you cant pull wiring through the
walls, you can come up with an elegant solution that either goes in
the carpet edging or is hidden in wall/floor trim work.  Even in
corners, wiring can be caulked over and painted to significantly hide
after-thought wiring.

Power-line networking is going to be slow. And, given the current and
impending future bandwidth demands, it is only going to a waste of
time to not do it properly the first time.

As an installer, that would be my recommendation.
