To shut down VM
# vmware-cmd /path/to/config/file.vmx stop soft
or
# vmware-cmd /path/to/config/file.vmx stop hard

if you get a 1 in the responce then it is shut down.

service mgmt-vmware restart

to have it reflected in VC

No snapshot. At least, I didn't tell it to take a snapshot, and
there's nothing that schedules snapshots.
