The problems people are having with SEP seem to be with the firewall portion or the "threat protection" thing. The antivirus part is pretty much the same as SAV 8, 9 or 10 (which is fairly trouble free). If you do a custom install and only install the antivirus part (which is what Symantec was saying to do with servers anyway unless they have changed their tune) you would probably be fine. Make sure you use MR5 (latest release) in any case.
