The box does not even boot up....I bought a GTAG cable (or something like that) 
and was going to attempy recovery that way, but I have never got around to 
it..... Not sure I could find the s/w I was going to use to attempt the 
recovery anymore now either :-(

I think it says system error e40 on the LCD a few seconds after booting up.  I 
think the firmware write to the ROM in it failed, as I have tried booting with 
each disk removed in turn, which is meant to help incase one of the disks ends 
up with corrupted f/w image on it.

  Did you try a TFTP boot to recover?  Google suggests that's possible for a 
Terrastation Pro.  (I don't own one.)
