Dang, I hate it when I have to resort to a "black box" fix. Ran into a
situation on a laptop where I couldn't get the system to "see" the drive. It
would recognize that the drive existed but wouldn't load the drivers. I went
to the manufacturer's website (Dell) and after poking around on the support
site for a few minutes, found a "troubleshoot my problem" section and
followed it on down. When I got to the part about the system not recognizing
the drive, the website suggested downloading and running a Microsoft "FixIt"
tool. I did and that fixed it, but I'd really like to know what the issue
was that was causing the problem!
