The helper service is on. I'm wondering if something didn’t change in the firewall to break name resolution. Time to pull out the sniffer.

I'll go check the Netbios helper. One thing to check is whether the "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" service running on the machine which you're trying to connect from? -----Original Message----- From: Greg Olson [mailto:gol...@markettools.com] Sent: Friday, December 18, 2009 3:03 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: connectivity issue using name vs ip All, I have an issue that came up after we moved our qa lab to a different office that I could use some advice on. A quick overview: Our Qa lab is on its own domain with a trust relationship to our corp domain. I have a Windows clustered file share on our qa network called "incoming" that we connect to using the path \\upload.qadomain.com\incoming Now from the QA domain it works fine, no issues. But from our corporate domain when we use the link it says that the "windows cannot find \\upload.qadomain.com\incoming" Now if I ping the server name upload.qadomain.com it shows the correct ip, and I can connect to it via the ip address? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help! -G ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
