The trick to this is to connect to the print server from a 32 bit client (so goto \\server<file:///\\server> and browse the printers folder), and add the drivers that way.

Try Deleting the drivers and starting over from scratch? And make sure the driver versions for the 64 and 32 bit match. The 64 bit drivers install fine when the printers are created. I try to add, from the server, using the Print Console drivers option, select the 32-bit driver. I provide the path to i386. The path is ignored and the install fails.
