OK you did not say which OS he was running on, but I have a few suggestions,
first if it is
XP go to C:\\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.Outlook
Vista/Win7 go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary
Internet Files\Content.Outlook
And delete the files in this directory. Make sure Outlook is closed first. I
have found this usually clears up the problem you listed.

Not yet. FYI, it appears that the difference is between files created in Excel
2000 and Excel 2007. The user in question has Excel 2007, but can only open
Excel 2000 files.

I have one user who is unable to save/open any Excel documents from his email -
at least from his "inbox." From his "Deleted items" folder he is able to open
Excel spreadsheets, but not from his Inbox. We have Vipre Enterprise here and I
just migrated the users to a new box as the old box was low on disk space on
the C: drive. Wondering if maybe I messed something up on the settings for that
group of users?
