Cscript won't open a console window (nor require interaction) unless a 
wscript.echo or equivalent is executed.

  WSCRIPT is the default script host as far as I know, so that's why I used it.

  Plus, won't CSCRIPT force a console window to open?  That might be a problem 
for a script that hangs around continuously like this one is apparently 
supposed to do (gag).
