I tend to error on wanting to give MORE helpful information rather than less.
So maybe a line that says something like "Can't see this embedded video? Click HERE to install the free Apple Quicktime player!". And make it red or something (flashing?) so that it's easily seen by the end user, so that way they won't get frustrated trying to figure out why they can't see the video everybody else can. We've found by being proactive we've really cut down on our helpdesk calls, and generally have more satisfied users. Something we've found helpful is to try and remove as many obstacles for the end-user as possible, so they can focus on being more productive.
