Ah OK... I'm in general agreement with the previous posters then...
probably gonna have to let the RAID controller make a volume out of it
before NT will see it.

Good question.

In the Windows Storage area along with "Disk Management", there is "Disk
Management (Dell OpenManage Array Manager)". Unfortunately, it doesn't
give me the ability to create a logical drive.

Where does it show up as "unknown" if the Dick Admin MMC isn't seeing
it?

I have an old Dell PowerEdge 2600 which is my Exchange Server. It has a
perc 4 controller with 2 channels. Channel 0 has two mirrored drives
and channel 1 has three RAID 5 drives. There is an extra drive bay that
I want to use as an independent drive (drive E:), but when I insert it
it becomes an unknown drive on channel 0. It does not show up in
Windows Disk Management.

Is this something I can correct in the bios and if so, what do I need to
change?

Thanks,

Paul
