While not always 100% true, if a network card works with Windows 7, it should work with Server 2008 R2. The two operating systems are based on the same code.
Same is true with Vista <--> Windows Server 2008 and XP <--> Server 2003. But more importantly, what network card are you looking at using? Do you know its' brand, model number? IE, is it made by Intel? Broadcom? Is it integrated into the motherboard of the system in question? If so, what kind of system is it? Dell? HP? --Matt Ross Ephrata School District ----- Original Message ----- From: Erik Goldoff [mailto:egold...@gmail.com] To: NT System Admin Issues [mailto:ntsysadmin@lyris.sunbelt-software.com] Sent: Fri, 14 Jan 2011 10:45:18 -0800 Subject: Does Windows 7 (x64) NIC work with Win 2008r2 (x64) > Has anyone used a workstation NIC from an x64 Windows 7 in an x64 Windows > 2008R2 server ? > > Looking to build another test box, but not wanting to spend hundreds $$$ on > a server class Ethernet adapter. > > > > Erik Goldoff > > IT Consultant > > Systems, Networks, & Security > > ' Security is an ongoing process, not a one time event !
